it can be on anything it is so broad.. it just has to relate to either individuals, families, communities.. or a couple of other groups i forgot it was so long ago but basically you can choose anything for your topic
pick something you are interested in and ask your teacher if it is suitable, they can give you better advice

what you need to do is an internet search and see what resources are available on homeless people and what organisations are there to help them.. statistics or something
write out some possible questions related to the homeless.. like how does being homeless impact on their wellbeing.. what organisations are helping the homeless.. what are the causes and effects of homelessness etc.. then just see if you can find the answer and a variety of resources to answer the question and the one with the most possibilities and most information i would go for..
just whatever aspect you are interested in on any group of people compose a question and do some research
you can relate ANY topic to the syllabus areas it is quite broad

That Idea would be kinda hard to do but if you are willing and hardworking it would be a good topic.

About the scaling I have been told that it doesnt really scale down. Its just that because it is an easier topic most of the ppl who dont really care take it and dont do good with their assignments and then drag down the hsc marks because if everyone does good they can sometimes be scaled up. Thats what someone i talked to told me anyway. Sorry if you dont understand. :D :uhhuh:

yeah i get watcha mean-
since i posted that i've looked into it a bit more- everyone has something different to say (some more dodgy then others...) but as i understand it if i worked as hard as i can then i'll go well, like if u work u'll be rewarded..
what is capping tho? sum1 was saying about it being capped between 90-91 or sumthing, does that mean thats as high as you can get?
grr. stupid school shite :(

thanks anyways for ya help though hey

Irp

I have a couple of ideas for my IRP

1. The causes for road accidents for P-plate drivers (there has been a lot in the media, telegraph ect)

or

2. Youth boredom in the sydney metro (there is nothing for us to do!)

or

3. The effects of depression on siblings (for example if a brother or sister has depression what is it like coping if u are their sibling.)

It would be awsome to get some feedback on these ideas!
Cheers :)

1. The causes for road accidents for P-plate drivers (there has been a lot in the media, telegraph ect)
- You may have trouble with your primary info for this one. Not many people like to talk about their car crashes, espetially if they were particularly traumatic. The causes you'll probably find include drink driving, using mobiles while driving, over confident/ under practiced. The question is, would you be able to do much with this information to make your IRP interesting?

2. Youth boredom in the sydney metro (there is nothing for us to do!)
- I like this topic. It's not as done to death as some of the others. You could use a personal reflection and i'm sure you would have easy access to sydney youth. Maybe also go one step further and look at the effect of this (e.g. underage drinking, youth crime- get some statistics to back your work up) but this is up to you.

3. The effects of depression on siblings (for example if a brother or sister has depression what is it like coping if u are their sibling.)
- This topic is a good variation on one's that simply focus on depression. You might want to make sure the topic is not too personal. Also, it may be a sensitive area and i don't know how many ppl would want to talk about being depressed or having a depressed sibling.

You're off to a good start and you seem to have thought these topics through already. Hope this helped, good luck.

hey, thanks for your help littlebear. Yeah im liking my second idea becasue it isnt too broad yet not too hard to come up with a lot of stuff. I did work experience at a youth centre so i'm sure they will help me out again!

With the p-plate driver one i'd just interveiw my peers and people with their licence to see what risks and things they take but a few ppl in my class are doing this and i like the be original!

my sister had depression and my bf's sister has anxiety/depression but i understand what you are saying about trying to get people to talk about it.

Thanks again for your help!
