what is dell like?

i want to get the dell inspiron 600 soemthing - http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspn_600m_au?c=au&l=en&s=dhs - because it's cheap, relatively small (important because i will be using my laptop at uni etc) and most importantly cos i can get it on finance.

if dell are complete crap PLEASE TELL ME!! if they are ok then i need affirmation too. if anyone knows some other retailers that will let me get a laptop on finance, post links here!! i can't afford to pay upfront right now

thanks guys!

Generally Dell laptops are fairly well built. The specs for that laptop seem ok too, just these ones caught my eye:
- 256MB RAM is a bit short for today's standard. But you don't plan to be doing heavy work on it, 256 is ok, but aim for 512 if you can.
- the battery life, 3-4 hours is fairly short considering its a Centrino.

spin spin, are you in a hurry to get one? can you possible wait a few weeks, because the new Intel Dothan is coming out soon, and it will be worth the wait.

I'm currently using my new Dell Laptop.
I bought a Dell Latitude D600.

Why latitude and not inspiron?
if i buy the latitude through work, it comes out to be cheaper than the inspiron.

Dell's supposedly selling them at a decent price. But everything is expensive initially in it's early release, a wait for 2 weeks or so will see the prices drop.

ok im being extremely bias here but if you dont mind adjusting and learning how to use a mac, get an ibook. good price, small (iuf you get the 12", and even the 14" is small because they are very slim and relatively light) you get student discount plus you can definately get it on finance, i think its like $20 a week or something like that. Plus they just recently "upgraded" them and you get more ie all are at least 1Gz and 40mb i think, for a lower price than before. So yeah thats what i recommend however i wouldnt know anything about any other laptops

You're gonna take back hating centrino, when you realise you get 6 hours of battery life on a full charge :p
