why is it that when i send a sms from icq i only have a possible 148 characters instead of 160, and the person recieving the message gets that message on how to reply to messages. Also i have disabled the adding of icq signiture.

icq has a 'sent from icq by...' message

When u type a message ICQ limits you to 148 chars because they want to type in "sent from icq from..."

what you do is use some third-party program (namely trillian), type in something longer than 148 chars, and the receiver will get an sms with that message cut off...

Cos it's free so don't complain that ur not getting those extra 12 characters!!

yup theres some part that says "from icq#blahbah" or something along those lines so the max is 148

not only that - but your nickname, as appearing above the message counts in the 160 available...

no but you see the problem isnt the (ICQ user:ICQ number) at the start of the message it is the "to answer me using icq, clicl 'reply', type your message, and 'send'" at the end of the message, my friends doesnt have that when he sends a message

yeah when i send icq sms i dont have that either... none of that 'to reply blach blah'

its strange... but yeah... its free so dont complain... just send another message...
