What did everybody put for this...
I said that
i) the magnets were wrong, should be a north and south pole magnet.
ii) The coils weren't connected to the commutator.
iii) commutator not connected to power supply

i put the magnets were wrong but they acctually wernt when u look closer ;)
so i crossed that out and had.
not connected to power supply.
coil not connected to commuator
and... umm.. brushes should be carbon not copper so they wear out and not the other thing.

The way the coil was wound made it impossible for the motor to turn even if it were connected properly. ie. the net force acting on each side of the coil was 0.

why were the positions of the magnets correct though. if both sides are north then how can there be a magnetic field penetrating through the coil?

both side wernt north poles, one north pole was on the far side of the bar magnet therefore a South Pole closer to the coil and a magnetic field ;)

if you actualy look closely there is a small loop, that connects one sides coils to the other. It is only small though and would not be enough to turn rotor

the way the coil was wound looked ok to me i did look at that and was a little confused but i was forced to look for other things cause i determined it would of worked however hopefully ur right!

nah but the 50 turns thing wouldnt have worked, only one small loop would have, this makes the 50 turns unnescesarry and will hinder the operation of the motor, needing more force to accelerate and putting a greater strain on the bearings (pin)

I swore the magnets were wrong? I looked at them closely.

And I put the coild as also being wrong, as it wasn't a continuos coil, one side actually was wound the oppsotie to the other so would therefore oppose the motion.

The magnets weren't wrong. Both only had a north pole indicated on them, but they were both pointing in the same direction, so the magnet on the left had a south pole pointed at the coil while the magnet on the right had a north pole pointed at the coil.

im hoping not coz one only concerns the power supply while the other one mainly deals with the brushes hmm i shouldnt have put something so ambiguous
