do I literally need to get 114/120?

Or if I get 108/120 (90%) would be marks be aligned/changed to go higher?

Most likely no, because the aligning depends on the difficulty of the exam.

108 would be sufficient fro 95. But I reckon 106 would still get you about 95 as well.

114/120 is basically for state-rankers...

But as kaz1 said, it depends on the moderation procedure put by markers/exam developers.

That's great. Thanks. I can manage 106 in just about all the practice 2u exams :).

Last year some friends of mine got 98 in the hsc and they estimated their exam mark to be 116 - 117/120 (which is in the 97ish% arena) so yeh they definitely moderate, probably a bit more than this in a harder exam.

There were times when 110/120 was the top mark in the state...and yeah, they definitely moderate.
