In one of the threads on here someone was asking for help with their Journeys essay and was told not to compare texts through techniques. If thats the case do you compare through themes and symbols or am I still missing something?

Yes, comparison of texts through themes or statements on journeys is definitely a more effective way than using techniques to compare, because you are continually relating back to the focus area. It also allows for a more logical flow in the essay. Using techniques you are more likely to be erratic in your movement between texts, while using themes will allow you to arrange your ideas in a logical manner.

Yep, compare texts as to what they have to say about the journey - as Aimee said.
