If one of my classmate tops NSW, will that help my results? (1 Viewer)

There is a superman in my school who has learnt maths up to 1st year university lvl. And he also tops English, Phys and Chem, as he studies 8/7 and has absolutely no life, we all expect him to do extremely well in the hsc.

But what i want to know is, if he tops the state in a subject eg 4u maths, will i, the 2nd place, be benefitted by his extraordinary performance?

Depends on the gap between you and him, and how much was the 2nd highest external mark from your school, I guess.

Generally the rule goes, the better everyone does, the better everyone does.

Yes it might affect you, although its important to consider how the rest of your year did too.

Depends how close you are to him in terms of marks, but the rest of the grade has to do reasonably well if there are going to be any significant benefits.
