If the syllabus asks to 'describe' can the exams ask to 'outline'? (1 Viewer)

If a syllabus dot point asks to say, 'describe' something, can HSC examiners ask you to 'analyse' the same thing? I'm assuming no, however my Physics teacher, who has marked HSC exams before said they can't, however recently at a Chemistry lecture, the lecturer who has also marked HSC exams before said they can interchange the verbs however they want. Now some of you might be thinking it doesn't matter since if you can do one you should probably be able to do the other, which is true to an extent, however if the dot point says 'identify', and they throw something like 'evaluate' at you I think there'll be problems (however even if they could I doubt they'll do something like that).

So does anyone know if they can/not interchange verbs in the exams?

Yes they can, it's in the 9.1 syllabus. Therefore know every dot point in-depth. However with that said, it is extremely unlikely that they will ask an 'assess' question on the dot point 'define Le Chatelier's principle', mainly because there is only so much they can ask on this particular dot point.

In reality the examination committee can do whatever they like and if it gets through then the Board will not scrap the question based on your concerns. So it is possible for them to do this. However I don't think they should, and most of the time they wouldn't put a higher level verb in than what is in the syllabus.
