If you find some guys at school hot and whack off to gay porno then you're obviously gay. No doubt about it.

BTW, I'm gay, and so is my boyfriend, who's in the same school as me. We're both not out and probably won't come out at school.
I sure hope your bf is gay aswell.

Look your friends will find out about it eventually. Personally who bloody cares if they don't think being gay is 'cool' because thats who you are. Tell them where to shove it and they should get over it. Doesn't change who you are, if there gonna be douches over it and decide to not talk to you, I can't see how you were that close with them.

Maybe its just me and my friends but being gay is not a big deal. Its just a different taste in stuff is all

Here's the thing. Guys usually won't care if your gay or not, most guys will find it ok if they can be reassured that they won't be hit on. Don't worry man, coming out is hard... once you come out of the closet it feels like a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders. By the way: if you haven't came out to your parents yet, wait until you are financially independent otherwise your going to be in big trouble, I learn from experience.

hope all goes well tho, good luck

Chances are that if your friends bag it out and are so negative about it, then they probably won't be too cool about it. If you're ready to risk their friendship, then tell them. If they react badly, then at least know deep down that they're not true friends if they can't accept you. If they react well, then they're good friends! :) But I wouldn't recommend you tell them since the chance of them reacting badly seem a bit high. I think if you do want to tell someone, you should confide in a friend that you trust and feel confident around. :) But apart from that, it's not the be all and end all of everything. You'll meet more people and make more friends in the future who will accept you, so just make the most of your life, enjoy your current friends, and chin up! :)

I understand people's advice not to come out till uni, I guess for safety reasons and having one less thing to stress about in the last year of high school and all that, but really, if your "friends" would react negatively to finding out who you really are, are they really worth having as friends?

I think that maybe you should consider talking to a few particularly close friends about it. Often they'll be shocked or negative at first reaction, but in a few days they'll come around.

Also, I don't know where you live, but there are heaps of GLBT social groups for youth. Do a google search and see what you can find (I'd do one, but I don't know where you're from).

Good luck and congrats on making the first move!

hey again guys, well i guess i went with my gut and told my 2 best friends first, [guy&girl] they've okay with it!, lols. since then, shes been more open telling me alot of things they think about other guys and such and my best guy friends been pretty interested in me - like im a rare pokemon or something lol. our relationship is alot closer. but i havent told any of the ppl in my group.

one of my bestie asked if i wanted to come out to the rest of the group, but i didnt want to. he insisted and decided to say that he was bi, just to see their reaction. they've become complete assholes. actually theres only one guy that bags him out and the rest conform. mob mentality ftl.

guess i got my answer.

oh btw, i live in north syd. and i go to an agricultural selective school. :)
thx for the advice peoples.

Most people will not care about this.
Don't be worry to tell your closest friends, if they can't accept it, then you know they are not a real friends.

Best of luck :)

Hey,

this thread has been up for a while, but i havent been on for a while. But yeah, i guess i just wanted to express that you should do what you feel comfortable with.

If you feel that you wont be happy until you "come out" to your friends, i guess the answer is there...

If you dont feel you should, because you dont know how they will react, hold off til you are ready, of kinow how they react.... :)

sorry to hear about your predicament...
i am a gay boy, doing year 12 too, so if you really want to talk someone,
i guess i will try to listen and let you get a load off if you need to...my friends say im a good listener but yeah....

its up to you

my addy is

I'm glad you've only come out to a few friends. I think it's best you keep it like that until you get out of school. Ppl at school do seem to be narrow-minded and blow everything out of proportion, but life after school is so different and no one really cares. I'm bi, and kept quiet through yr12, but now that I'm out of school, I've told a fair few friends and nothing much has changed, if anything, it's been positive. :)

I know this might sound stupid/ironic but I actually agree with this. I dunno if it's cause I'm only Bi, but yeah, I feel it's wrong to be hooking up with guys out on the streets. I only hook-up with them in gay nightclubs. Any other gay/les ppl feel like this????

hey

if you decide to come out and your friends dont respond in the positive supporting way then they truly arent your REAL friends.

i have a few friends who have come out, and i understand what they've been through.

so if you ever need a person to listen, well im here. even if i dont know you. im sure itll make it easier for you to ttalk to someone about this to someone you dont know then someone you do, as they might disappoint you with their response

I don't feel like that at all. You obviously have some internalised homophobia to work through.

As regards to dagwoman's comment I'm not surprised that many gay guys could potentially have internalised homophobia. Repressed to the power of eleventy.
