yes of course dude i 100% forgot that i only listen to hardcore and metal!Espo15 said:passionless and lifeless are pretty big calls
tom i wouldnt expect anyone who listens to screamo and thrash metal or whatever its called to like ben folds but i don't see how its passionless? i mean its hard to sing about your daughters or abortions your girlfriend had without passion. he just expresses it in a different way to the music you enjoy.
and nwatts:
The stuff is MAZING
I just wanted to make a blog post on how fucking mazing* the entire indie rock genre is. I’m damn sick of anti-Triple J fiends moaning on about how their renegade younger sister is into music that clashes with the bullshit R&B they’re presently pimping from their $400 Honda Shitvic. Music, people. Not this.
TV on the Radio – the funkiest bunch of black people since black people were invented in New Orleans 200 years ago to popularise the fro. See Young Liars, Wolf like Me and their cover of the Pixies’ Mr Grieves.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – while Pitchfork sprouts a lot of shit, these New Yorkers actually are a bit of allright, unlike most other things in America. See The Skin on my Country Yellow Teeth and Details of the War.
The Arcade Fire – these Canadians have more band members than Canada has citizens. You tell me how that isn’t awesome. See Neighbourhood #2 (Laika) and In the Backseat.
Interpol – the kings of post-punk revival show us how it’s done, if Ian Curtis was still alive, he could take some pointers from these little legends. See Lief Erickson, Narc and NYC.
Elliott Smith – less rocky than his geologically-savvy indie rock counterparts, this wavering singer-songwriter is the best thing since the next artist. See Pictures of Me, Say Yes, Amity.
Cat Power – my baby Chan channels the now deceased Elliott with a tenderness only seen in the most tender of well cooked red meat. See Maybe Not, Colours and the Kids, Love & Communication.
Franz Ferdipants – yes, they’re the biggest thing since creation, but yes, they’re still damn great. A level of groove only ever reached by black people. Embrace You Could Have Had it So Much Better, Outsiders and Darts of Pleasure.
Broken Social Scene – Canadians have a thing with large level lineups, each album from these freaks is as wonderfully diverse as an indie rock fan’s living quarters. Just see the whole of their You Forgot it in People release.
There will have been some rock stars I will have forgotten, but you get that. Indie rockers that are not fun: Bloc Party, The Libertines, plenty more I’ve intentionally blocked.
* 'mazing' - the shorthand of 'amazing' all the cool kids are using. denotes a level of amazing beyond amazing.
^^ this is why im pretty much going to ignore your opinions on music
when i said he was boring and passionless im only going from the sound... i never give his lyrics a chance because the sound of the music makes me want to have a nap. and makes me feel about 50 years olderDrownTheCrow said:yes of course dude i 100% forgot that i only listen to hardcore and metal!
you know me better than that
incorrect again adrianEspo15 said:i didnt mean you only listen to screamo, but it is one of your favourite genres right? or atleast you dont like any indie music.. maybe?

i dont get what you're trying to say nwatts? that your opinions in general have no relation to other isolated opinions? of course your musical taste and opinions are relevant to a discussion on musicians. i thought it was kinda obvious? wether or not you referred me to yr blog is irrelevant.
