Say I use more than one source for a statement - in this case it will be " . . . pethidine is usually given according to weight, mg/kg". My sources are the following -

http://www.racgp.org.au/afp/downloads/pdf/march2004/20040311spain.pdf

http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/175_12_171201/o'reilly/o'reilly.html

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=1853688&dopt=Abstract

http://medind.nic.in/imvw/imvw12221.html

So do I just reference the statement like I would with a single source, or is there an alternative method if using multiple sources? Thanks!

Depends on the referencing system you use. There are some good online guides, just do a google search for Harvard or APA referencing styles or whatever you're using. Not sure with online sources, do they all have authors and dates? With books and journals in the Harvard system you cite each in order of publishing date eg Smith (1958), Brown (1964) and Jones (1992).

All the online sources I have includes the title, author and date.
Forgot to ask, each source (above) has more than one author so can I use et. al. in text and at the end include all authors.

Btw, I'm using the harvard system. Thanks. :)

If there are more than three authors then you can use et al, but you should reference all in text if less than or equal to three as is my understanding. For a standardised system it all seems pretty arbitrary to me, one department will penalise you for doing what another department requires. G'luck!

if they are the same from all three resources, why dont you just reference one?

Thanks - two of the sources have four authors/researchers, which is why asked - I didn't want to have 10+ authors listed in text.
