Just wondering if for the "current criminal justice issue" this would be relevant? Particularly with regards to such limitations upon discretion as sentencing guidelines, maximum sentences, mandatory sentencing, the media etc. and the subsequent harshening of sentences and innacuracy of the legal system?

The reason I ask is that in the CSSA trial, my teacher had an issue with using this as a current criminal justice issue (though I was unlucky in that the question was hard to adapt to my issue).

Thanks in advance

Hmm, it's not the most current of issues. There hasn't been much serious debate on that in Australia in recent times. But I'd still say the markers wouldn't mark you down for that, as long as you can provide a few recent examples.
