Wanting to go overseas in the first week December this year (something to look forward to after exams:rolleyes: ), anyway can anyone reccomend destinations that would be good to go to by yourself. What about Kuala Lumpur, Osaka, New Zealand or Hawaii (They are the choices). Just hoping not to get kidnapped:uhhuh:

Osaka!!

I went there just year as a stop over mid last year, i extended my stay there because it was that awesome, omfg it's the best and safe, you can leave your personal belongings lying on the ground and no one will take it. Don't expect people to speak English there if you get lost around there. :D

I'll second that. Its only 20 minutes from Kyoto on the bullet train.

EDIT: I think its more of a case of the Japanese people being more shy/modest about their English speaking abilities. Whilst not everyone can speak English, you'd be surprised with the Generation X & Y's grasp of English, as its a compulsory subject in schools over there. If you only know a little Japanese (phrasebooks etc) and you genuinely try to speak in their language even if you suck, they will love you!

Thanks guys, Well looks like im off to Japan!!

Soon as i read on smarttraveler that "beware of kidnappers", there is no chance im going there.

I know ZERO Japanese though, is there a electronic device out there that will translate from jap-english, english to Jap etc?? I want to go to Tokyo also. Still considering Hawaii though, but the pricing for accomadation etc is starting to put me off though

Is hawaii expensive???

Basic Japanese isn't that hard to learn. Like, just greetings and essential questions and conversational chit chat and stuff, you could get a handle on that in a week or two before you go over. And take a dictionary!

Go New Zealand if you are by yourself. From what I hear there are lots of younger people over there and it offers so much.

Yeah, its all about cheap fares, where ever I can go on a bargain. Awaiting future Jetstar International sales, I remember they offered those 199one way fares to Kuala Lumpur, so Im going to keep my eyes peeled:ninja:

KL's really nice and sale fares to Malaysia can be pretty cheap, maybe worth checking out if Tiger goes there as well

i was planning on going to hawaii in dec as well, again jetstar sale prices are pretty good but your right about accomodation and according to friends who have been nothings cheap there because its so commercialised, i guess it also depends on if you want to do the beach + shopping thing :)uhhuh: ) or the volcanoes + nature thing, damn talking about it makes me want to replan and go

Cash wise, i think im off to old NZ for a week now, anyway it should be fun. Ill be still going by myself, and should be able to grab basically a free Jetstar Fare. I have an $1200 Jetstar voucher (Used about half of it, Basically took advantage of their "double the difference offer" when Tiger had 9.95 fares to Darwin, and Jetstar had like $300 fare, so as I was going there anyway I took advantage, and the lady on the phone didn't sound too happy, and then 1 hour later Jetstar slash its prices, so lucky I was quick)

New Zealand Good year, Christchurch or Auckland???

i thought you could only use the voucher once and forfeit anything left over

Na , with Jetstar Vouchers, If the fare comes to 300 dollars, and you just type in the voucher code and it will only subtract that money of the the voucher total, but if you have less than the total amount in vouchers, you need to pay the rest by credit card
