Just wondering....

I remember hearing a quote about Diem which referred to him as a "puppet who pulled his own strings". I can't find it in my notes anywhere and I'm not sure if an actual historian said it or if it's just a general way he is often referred to.

Does anyone know who said this?

I believe that was said by the historian Stanley Karnow...i doubt the markers wud know
