So I've been contempating for a looooong time about getting one. But I'm scared as hell they theyre going to hit a nerve and Ill be paralyzed (spelling) I asked my mum (nurse) whether it was true and she said yes, I then asked a piercer and they said the answer was no.

So I'm thinking that my mum was just telling lies so I wouldn't get it doen, but then again do I trust a piercer?

Does anyone know for a fact? I'm going to ask a doctor the next time I go to one I think, but it would be good to get other peoples opinions on it...?

It depends on the skill of the piercer.
Your mum is correct in saying it can happen.
The Piercer is wrong and irresponsible for telling you a straight out no.
Just find someone skilled and reputable that knows what they are doing

it is essentially a myth. find ONE case study where nerve damage has occurred. the human body just isnt designed that poorly.
There IS risk of permanent damage to your ear occurring, the 2 most likely scenarios are either: the result of a shattered cartilage, which could occur if you go to a crap piercer, or get pierced with a gun
or the result of a catastrophic infection leaving you with deformity. This could occur if it is pierced in unsanitary conditions, or if you don't take proper aftercare measures while the piercing is healing. So basically if you go to a reputable piercer and care for it properly, these far out risks are really minimal.
More realistic risks might be that you get a high level of irritation and swelling, a buildup of scar tissue that is like a little lump which may even result in you taking it out. But even if you do have to take it out, this is probably the most realistic risk. For something far out like permanent damage to occur, there would have to be a large amount of neglect

well think about alll the people you know with at least one piercing. have any of them ever had nerve damage as a result? yeah, my friends havent either. dw about it.

just make a sure a differnt needle is used for each piercing.
or else your ear will become paralyzed, or something fatal and lethal.
