Can someone please help me with this question im not sure how to answer it...

Explain why Galileo and Newton believed that all inertial frames of reference were equivalent.

this is what i have so far but it sort of only answers half the question

Newton found that two observers travelling at a relative velocity of u would see the same acceleration, wils agree on mass being the same, and will both see the same form of Newton's Second Law, F=ma, therefore making both frames equivalent.

This is not entirely true. Newton was actually a step backwards in that he believed in the existence of an absolute inertial reference frame, with respect to which all velocities could be measured. Galileo was convinced of the equivalence of all inertial frames much earlier from his inability to distinguish between motion and rest when below deck on a uniformly sailing ship.
