hi guys,,

just wondering what would be required as raw mark GENERALLY SPEAKING to a get a low band 6 (like 90+) in adv. eng?? YES, i'm aware that different years-different raw marks get band 6 --- but generally speaking

would 85+ out of 105 be enough for a band 6??

thankss

Look at it this way - there are 6 bands. Divide the overall possible mark by six bands evenly, and see where you end up.

85/105 = 80.95%, which I think is a Band 5. Mind you, this is before scaling, as well.

No, it depends on the ALIGNING.

No one except the Board knows the raw mark cut-off for bands - some information has been released in the previous years (when people requested for their raw marks), but of course none already has this year.

The cut-off changes every year.

True, although on a *very* general note I find that dividing the overall score into six bands (or groups) can help. If you're close, then yes a band 6 is possible. But if you're aft and away, it's time to get back to the studying. :)

yes, this is true of course - but you have to remember that it has been proven over time that the raw band cut-offs don't vary much form year to year. Glitterfairy's method, therefore, is probably the best estimate. If it was close to the line, then maybe you'd say there was a chance it would be a band 6, but if the margin is wide, then you're pretty safe guessing the band

the best thing to do is know everything you possibly can and aim for a band 6 and not for a specific mark.. you'll suprise yourself when you get your marks back.

good advice doll - basically, just do your best and try to limit the pressure placed on you at this time
