Yes, my bad :) It would definately be worth a try to just reinstall windows without formatting and let it try and fix itself up.

I guess since you're posting, you have access to another computer. Can't you take the hard disk out into the computer you're using and back them up?

hmmm........do you have anyone that can help you in person?

Its not hard to do, but it doesn't help that we can only tell you in words what to do, and should anything go wrong, it could be quite disasterous for your hard disk.

to be honest id rather try something more simple like installing windows again or whatever haha

ive only got a disk for XP tho.. would it still work??

I'm back for a little stroll, and thought i'd suggest, if you could detach that HDD you have your important stuff on and attach it as a secondary slave drive in your current PC, copy all your files you want, and then format :)

It should work - start up the computer with the CD in (first check that the BIOS is set to boot off CD), then you should just follow the prompts.

Jon ive done that.. weird thing but, it just keeps going back to the a: prompt
