Has the way the HSC marks are dtermined changed since this article?

Maybe I wont do so bad afterall?

When HSC results are released each December, students receive their scaled examination marks, their assessment marks, an average of the two, and a list of performance bands that they have fallen into for each subject

I thought the exams werent scaled I thought it was the UAC that does scaling.

Someone please explain, what is moderated mark?
what is aligned mark?
what is scaled mark?

THANKS.

Anyway I can get in contact of this mod?

This article is using the term 'scaling' for what is generally called 'aligning'.

Aligning is determining the raw marks that will form the cut-off marks for each of the Band levels.

Scaling is the UAC process whereby they match the marks to other subjects and scale the subjects to ensure that students are getting the right rank.

The process described here is still in place.

From my sure and certain knowledge people with raw marks under 50 will get reported marks in excess of 60%
