I hang out at one of the ES computer rooms some mornings, anyway for the last few weeks this annoying lady has been coming in chewing gum REALLY loudly and looking at SENG lecture slides. I think she was trying to code something because last time I saw her she was grunting and moaning and talking to the computer about something.

My conclusion is that shes some middle aged that has come back to do a b. comp sci, because if she's struggling with first year SENG then she's too shit to be doing any more difficult program. Plus, the gum is nicotine gum, cause she sounds like she's grumpy from withdrawals.

I have some classes with her, you have her pegged. The assignment she is doing is pretty tough, it took me all of three hours

I never really thought about it. I was wondering how they did it without getting caught. I came up with the conclusion that they got it through torrents, so that it wouldn't be as easy for someone to watch what you're doing.

The official daily limit is 1.15GB per day http traffic, 360MB non http downloads. If you exceed this your account will be flagged when/if they run an excess usage report which until about a month ago they did daily.

First offence - 3 days
2,3rd offence - ~week
then they start to get nasty, sometimes multiple months.

Other offenses: sharescan, IP stealing -> they turn off your port for about a week

They actually blocked dvda a while ago for sharing porn but hes back online. I guess they figure its better one person downloads and shares, rather than 50 people downloading it separately. Its just made clear to us that any legal ramifications are our own.

Also, torrent are blocked from college and things like limewire dont work well so that leaves IRC and http places like rapidshare, megashare etc. And yes, downloads from our network are unlimited but my firewall blocks most leechers from outside the colleges.

Going off on a tangent, but these comments raise an interesting perspective on views on sexuality, as though sex is somehow wrong?

I wasn't really thinking about it in terms of "sexuality", more that pornography in general is taboo. My thoughts would be the same as if you were searching for how to make bombs or commit terrorist acts.

There's ways around for atleast torrents though. I don't know how personally, but there'd be people around who do.

they block the ports we use from college, but there are tunnelling programs but they rarely work well

the mature-aged ladies in my ling class seem to be pretty flirty to the male lecturers haha which kinda freaks me out, esp. when they're both creepy-like, but i also find them quite witty and laugh along and such..haha my opinions are so invalid because i enjoy ling hey lol
