So we've just received an essay question in class;

Evaluate the role of indiciduals in the weakening of the republic to 49 BC. In your response you must refer, in detail, to the actions and intentions of Pompey and ONE of Crassus or Cisero.

And i would be very grateful if someone could review my introduction for it. Thanks!

During the thirty years prior to 49 BC, the Roman Republic experienced a period of significant decline – the foundation of the Republic was seriously questioned by individuals such as Pompey and Crassus, and the senate had reached a state of corruptness where it could no longer function effectively. In rectifying/profiting Rome’s decline, Pompeius Magnus and Marcus Crassus (amongst others) instigated drastic political change, further destabilizing the Roman Republic, contributing to its eventual demise in 27 BC.
