just displying photos is rather pointless, they need a digital camera plug-in

yeah i don't think the whole 'lets-bundle-as-many-things-into-one-case-as-we-can' thing is a good idea. who wants to watch movies on a tiny screen?

i'm even a bit dubious of this ipod photo. the ipod sold so well because it did one thing and did it very well. now with this photo stuff, i'm not too sure about it. cover art in colour is a nice touch, though.

Think of it like this. $200-300 extra...for a silly slideshow feature. Remember that you can still put your pictures on an iPod as data, so its fucking useless.

Also I have seen 40GB iPods on eBay brand new for $499-550. So thus $300+ for a silly little feature.

so which one is better? i want an all-in-one-USB key-mp3-novelty digicam function for xmas. they're cheaper than iPods (coz iPod relies heavily on accessories), but probably expensive because iRiver's colour screen and 512 memory while Philips because they're a 'brand-name' and 2megapixel CCD

I would go for the iRiver, as I would only use the built in camera for candid shots as i have my own 3 megapixel camera for occasions. 0.3megapixel (VGA) shots may not be suitable for printing, but they are adequete for shooting randomness and you could fit over 3100 shots on the device!

Also, the website seems to suggest it can work like a removable drive.
