Sexy, but expensive.

Also, iTMS in more of the EU and Canada (soon) but not here?
*Hopes it will be here shortly*

Notes that iTMS "Country Warning" has been updated to suggest iTMS maybe here soon ...

it is way too expensive, then again all harddrive mp3 palyers are....

just displying photos is rather pointless, they need a digital camera plug-in

btw, i know there is a card reader plugin.

yeah i don't think the whole 'lets-bundle-as-many-things-into-one-case-as-we-can' thing is a good idea. who wants to watch movies on a tiny screen?

i'm even a bit dubious of this ipod photo. the ipod sold so well because it did one thing and did it very well. now with this photo stuff, i'm not too sure about it. cover art in colour is a nice touch, though.

Think of it like this. $200-300 extra...for a silly slideshow feature. Remember that you can still put your pictures on an iPod as data, so its fucking useless.

Fuck Apple.

Can you fit a G4 iBook in your pocket?

Also I have seen 40GB iPods on eBay brand new for $499-550. So thus $300+ for a silly little feature.

in comparison...

iRiver's iFP-1095 $565.40 at mp3Direct
512MB flash memory
1.2" 260K-color LCD
640x480 (probably camera-phone-style) CCD
http://www.iriver.com/product/info.asp?p_name=iFP-1095

only problem is can't drag-and-drop like USB key, i dun think. so only can carry around jpegs and music, but no pdf and docs for uni work :(

edit: oh and this HDD-based one, which makes it in direct-competition with iPodPhoto:

iRiver's H340 $687.50 at mp3Direct
40GB HDD
supports: MPEG 1/2/2.5 Layer 3, OGG Vorbis, WMA, ASF, JPG, BMP
USB1.1 host function: data from other UMS devices can be directly transferred to the player through a single cable without having to use a desktop computer.
Built-in rechargeable lithium polymer(1300mAh) :\ :(
Approx. 16 hours (44.1kHz, 128Kbps, Vol 20, Normal EQ)
http://www.iriver.com/product/info.asp?p_name=H340

Philips KEY019/00
128MB flash memory (personally i dun think it's enough memory)
no LCD
2-megapixel CCD with video-capture 320x240 at 30fps...
drag-and-drop
http://www.consumer.philips.com/con...Type=CONSUMER&productId=KEY019_00_AU_CONSUMER

so which one is better? i want an all-in-one-USB key-mp3-novelty digicam function for xmas. they're cheaper than iPods (coz iPod relies heavily on accessories), but probably expensive because iRiver's colour screen and 512 memory while Philips because they're a 'brand-name' and 2megapixel CCD :(

I would go for the iRiver, as I would only use the built in camera for candid shots as i have my own 3 megapixel camera for occasions. 0.3megapixel (VGA) shots may not be suitable for printing, but they are adequete for shooting randomness and you could fit over 3100 shots on the device!

Also, the website seems to suggest it can work like a removable drive.

the iRiver website said:
The Prism Eye codec capabilities do not just end to digital music formats such as MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG (up to 256Kbps) but extends to JPG digital image format. Moreover, digital camera, voice recorder, FM radio (tuning and recording), removable hard disk features will lighten up your body and carrying bag.
