lol how so?
i don't think it will be that much cheaper than a normal ipod, given the relatively high prices of flash memory based devices.
oh well.

I think it'd be good for a small music collection but it'd be very annoying if you REALLY wanted to listen to a certain song. Also it looks no different (functionally) to most cheap 512MB USB MP3 player except it has no screen. Personally I'd rather get a cheap one and be able to choose what I listen to. But my iPod will do me fine anyway :)

$400 for a music player like the iPod mini is resonably expensive considering, technology suppose to be cheap.

You want to go from (at least) 20GB to a maximum of 1GB?

the novelty wears out :p
No way! I've got a G4 40GB and I think I could go down to a 20 but not anything smaller. I just love being able to choose from all the songs I have in my whole collection where ever I am. Also using it as a USB external HDD is good.

Cables shmables, if you've got dock it doesn't make a difference anyway. Each to their own though I guess.

Ah, flash based are nice, but I prefer hard drive based (for massive amounts). I love my 4th gen iPod.. got iPod socks yesterday with ... and bubz, they're the best covers I've seen for ages.

And good earphones? A sony pair are like $20, and they're great :p
