yes but we were not by any means, the only ones. what the Vietnamese went through in the indochina wars, what the jews went through after hitler. etc. plus, there is this little fact that our economy is smaller than that of an american state. and that's before we get started on our population. all the other nations have been (france, britain, russia), or are superpowers (china, usa). I'm all for Aus being on the SC but we just not worthy yet.

yes, and like leetom said, don't refer to china as a colony. some people will get offended.

china suffered immensely, more so than Aus. try being a great civilisation one day and then getting stamped on by some impertinent europeans who think they're better than you simply because their eyes are shaped differently the next. plus, china is one of aus's greatest trading buddies.

Of course the war is not justified.
If Bush were motivated by moral concerns over human rights as he claims to be, he could not contemplate allowing Turkey, with a devastatingly vile record of human rights abuses, especially against Kurds, to be his choice to occupy and govern Iraqi Kurdistan; yet that is precisely his choice.
There are evil regimes and Iraq's is one of hundreds, most of which have been installed and supported by the US for decades.
Let's not forget that in the 1980s we and the US were all in favour of Sadam Hussein - when we were at odds with Iran.
I am reminded of Orwell's 1984 when I contemplate the way our rulers in the allegedly democratic west change the target of our national hate to whoever has dared oppose them at the moment, and our media conveniently forget that we have been their friends, financiers and weapons suppliers in the recent past.
For the UK and US and Australia to set themselves up as international judges of moral right is laughable.

That wasn't an essay that was just stuff I've found out. If I find something I don't understand in a book or something, I'll Google it and you'd be surprised what you'll find (ie type "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and hit I'm Feeling Lucky ... it's funny).

The USA has justified the War in Iraq by saying "Saddam might have had chemical weapons." If so, my friends, the world is faced with a deadly new threat.
