I'm only in year 11 but I tend to find that the step up from 2U to 3U isn't very great in terms of difficulty. But then again maths is my best subject so yeah.

MX1 is harder than Maths. In year 12, the difference between the two levels becomes more pronounced.

i'm in year 11 as well and feel practically no difference between the two... it's like 2u = maths, 3u = more maths. well, maybe except for permutations and combinations which took a bit of time for me to get my head around, but otherwise no, not really much difference. just beware though, taking 3u essentially means doing homework every night and having maths everyday at school, so only take it if u can dedicate yourself.

3u is just 2u with more content. There's no expectation of more rigour or more advanced mathematical thinking. The jump from 3u to 4u, on the other hand...

it depends on your capabilities but in short no. its called extension for a reason :p (its supposed to be more rigourous)

I see 3U as just a small addition to 2U. They're both roughly the same difficulty imo. (but this depends on the person).

in 3u, you have harder 2unit things + additional contents.

3unit is much harder than 2unit in difficulty

3U isn't that much of a jump from 2U, because everything just builds on. I guess the hardest thing you will encounter is binomotion, which deviates from the 2U teachings.

just thought many of my classmates seemed to struggle with 3u - in our 2u assessment we were tested on plane geometry and functions; 3u was inequalities, perms and combs, circle geo.

i flunked 2u but did brilliantly in 3u. very weird...

3u is harder than 2u depending on paper. E.g. Last yrs HSC 2013. 2u was hard, 3u wasn't as much.

Personally I find 3 unit way harder than 2 Unit. I'm in year 11 and there's a major difference between my marks in 2 unit (one of the top ranks) and 3 unit (bottom 5)

IMO 2 unit for my topics so far, is just a small extension on whatever I learnt in my junior years.

The only topics in 3u that are relatively on the same level as 2u are, 3u inequalities, algebra, Angle between 2 lines, Internal and external division of lines into given ratios, Primitive of sin 2x and cos 2x and further trig, standard integral inverse trig induction and induction (maybe). People should understand that 3u is going to be harder because it is an extension of 2u, which is why 2u is essential for 3u and why 3u will help 2u :)
