So does everyone recommend that you should join your University's Unions? If so, what are the reasons for it? I joined them but had no reason for it really:).

Damn! So when do we have to pay it? I am going to be so poor after I graduate from University:(. On the bright side however, my degree is only three years and not five, like some:).

student union's organise those rally's and you get discounts on food and stuff on campus. thats pretty much it.

at most uni's its compulsory for yout o join them, but i think with the new hecs system, membership will be optional!!

they fund clubs and societies. Univeristy Unions, while filled with socialist dillusionals. are very important and the only form of unionism that I fully embrace. We wouldn't have any of the eateries, or the campus bars if it wasn't for the unions. Nor would you have o-week.
Oh, they rallied for the bar? I am all for them then:).

So do we have to attend Union Meetings:confused:?

OK then. Which ones did you join hipsta_jess? There were four to choose from and I enrolled in all of them except for the Ourimbah Campus one:).

Your union dues are VERY IMPORTANT.
They go to help feral looking layabouts with nothing better to do than protest against something-anything!
Crayons cost, you know. Alll that scrawling on cardboard requires much needed union dollars.
Ha Ha. Wait till you attend your first lecture and some dope comes to the front of the room and pronounces some kind of cause that nobody is really interested in.
Ha Ha. Your union dollars may even go to The Young Liberals Club!
Little Johnny has an election due this year and I'm sure they're willing to help out with a little bit of your compulsory union dues. I hear they are paying Tony Abbott to attend Campus and participate in the wet tee-shirt competition-for a price!
