I got told on yesterday that my Economics exam has been brought forward to Friday, instead of next Monday. I do the course online, with a handful of others from the diocese, there are two at my school, plus the course overseer/"teacher", and the half yearly is officially set for Friday, but my friend at school couldn't do it then because of a full exam day that couldn't be rearraged. We were then supposed to do it on the Monday together, but then she found out she had a Hospo prac that day, and they couldn't give her 3 exams on the one day, so she's doing it on Thursday and I was still set fo Monday, and had organised my study schedule to suit the three subjects this week.

Should I at least try and get it moved back to Monday? I've lost a whole weekend I had devoted to it. If I had more warning I would have coped, but 5 days is not enough for me.

How much is this assessment/half yearly exam worth?

It seems like your teacher/overseer is trying to accomodate fair and consistent exam conditions for everyone... I would personally feel really bad for them and wouldnt wanna cause any more disruption to the timetable.

If its not a huge chunk of a percentage i wouldnt bother, just knuckle down and skip watching the OC this week. ;-)

That's what i would do at least...

Technically yes it is fair, and technically you should have started preparing long before this so that the loss of one weekend is not catastrophic :(

Having been on the student's side, it sucks like you would not believe (because there's the whole leave-it-to-the-last-minute culture going on), but it happens :(

As long as everyone is still doing the exam at the same time, then I would consider it as fair, even if it was moved forward, as in your situation. Bringing the exam forward by 3 days, I can imagine would be very inconvenient for you, but still fair, as everyone has has to suffer, to put it harshly. :)

It's 20%
I can see why he's doing it, but just to spring it on like that seemed unfair. We're all doing it at different schools, my friend and I the exception, the rest of the class doesn't know what day we're doing the exam, we usually do assessments within 2-3 days of each other because of the differing schol's timetables and no-one knows, we have a 40min online lesson, and that's our interaction, so it never mattere until now it seems.
For once I've basically got every hour planned out on the three subjects this week (simply on study and 15 minute breaks every now and then when I feel I need one, or can't answer a few questions), and the same for next week's subjects, and I guess I just don't like change.

Yeah, I'm still catching up on the work in Eco, but let it sorta slide while studying for Maths & English cos I thought I'd have from Fri arvo-Sunday to do it -- my only subject I left til last minute, and it came back and bit me on the arse, unfortunately.

Again, I know how crap you're feeling but fundamentally they CAN pull stuff like this on you. HSC culture usually works to the student's advantage/ease, however when you get to uni they make it clear that nothing's their fault and they can screw you over :p Probably why I'm so blase about this, really...

But it'll end up alright.

I guess I can put it down to last year with the Chem HSC, our teacher just did so much for us, we were never inconvenienced and it gave me false hope for this year :p

I felt more confident today when the assistant course teacher gave us a "power lesson" when I had to skip Eng to see him, so it should be OK, at least.

And ta for being so frank :)

You must get two weeks notice if its an assessment task. If your exam is longer than two weeks notice the date can be changed and brought forward provided it is still within the two weeks notice compulsory notice.
