It was advised to me by several lecturers (who mark the HSC) that it is NOT a good idea to do that.
Apparently it makes you appear like you weren't bothered to look beyond what you were given to work with and that your repertoir is highly limited.
So if you really must use it (because you really like it etc.), then go for it, but bear in mind that it might not have a good impression on the marker.
I'm not sure if that helped at all...

You can still use the same authors, just not other prescribed texts. Our teacher showed us a massive list of texts we weren't allowed to use. I wanted to use Wind in the Willows for journeys but wasn't allowed to.

I'm using The Hollowmen (ABC) as a related text for Frontline. This is produced by the Working Dog production team that wrote and produced the Frontline series.

So yeah, same author is fine, just forget other actual prescibed texts.

Asif you can't use other prescribed text

there's no actual rule against it saying that you will get marked down

also, who cares about good impression. they all must give around the same marks, so one marker cant be biased just because you chose a text

I'm not using the Hollowmen anymore, but instead an episode of Australian Story. I will use the Hollowmen if necessary depending on the question and I'd use the episodes Shared Thought and Wonder Drug (or just one in the end).
