everybody ive known to get uai's of 99+ have had absoluetly no social life during their HSC year (anybody feel free to correct me on this) and then once theyve gone to uni or whatever the amrk toatlly doesnt count for anything anymore? so what im asking is it really worth giving up your social life just so that you can say you ended up in the top 1% of the state?
IMO, I think people would pay more attention to your marks at uni rather than the HSC. I don't think its worth burning yourself out over the HSC, burn yourself out at Uni, its more important and tougher.

This seems like a silly argument to me. Of course the UAI doesn't matter anymore after you're in uni. It's purpose is to get into uni, that's why it's called the UAI.
I think it's worth it. I'd rather sacrifice my social life now than end up with a job I don't like down the line.

don't you see what we study for english. why at all do we study journeys for english. there must have been some inspiration from the bored to do it. c'mon the destination is not always the most important. it is how you get to the end.

and if that means enjoying the journey then so be it. however, also getting to oyu're goal is also just as important

of course u can achieve whatever u want to get if u r determined enough to get it. It is very possible to get high UAIs 99.5+ and go out to parties and get smashed a lot, a few guys from our school did that and they got 99.8, 99.85, 99.5
I would not advise working 24/7 on school, u'll find urself at University unable to let go of school or unable to make heaps of friends at Uni.

I could go on and on, but seriously, last yr of school, is it worth it?

I don't know why ppl always equate having a high UAI leading to social retardation. I know plenty of ppl who got crappy UAI's and are also socially retarted. I'd rather at least be socially retarted and have a high UAI.

If you're keen about doing a course at uni and wanting a specific career, then yes, becoming socially retarded is worth it. But don't worry so much because chances are, everyone would become hermits during the HSC. And everything would blow over as soon as your final exam is over. I've come across so much paranoid people who were like "Eating after an exam? Are you insane?! We have to go home and study for the next one!" Don't do this. The last thing you want is to go into some stress overload and spend the next few months stressing over your results.
But then again I probably don't give good advice on this topic because I didn't study as much as I should, got a not-so-great UAI, BUT got into the course I always wanted to do.

Maybe, maybe not! honestly I don't think I could go a year without doing ANYTHING with friends! But I guess it's only really a year and you have the rest of your life?! Each to there own! :uhhuh:

You have no social life in high school regardless. Work obviously.

HOW can anyone get 99+ without doing that much work? I'll admit that if you work on other stuff during classes when you have a crap teacher leaves you more free at the end of the day, but you still have to work hard to get good marks, right? Or is there something I'm missing? (I'll pay you to tell me what it is. :p)

But yeah we do only have a hundred and something days to go... mind you, it's actually quite a lot. I just find it difficult to 'strike a balance' cos once I get into the zone of either studying or bludging, it's impossible for me to do anything else for a while...
