I go to a top ten school, I've always been at the top for english so I wanted to do eng ext 2 (my ext 2 eng teacher is quite strong which is why i wanted to do it). However, I recently made improvements in maths, notably I'm top 25 for the last prelim exam in my grade so now I wanna do math ext 2. My other subjects are chem and phys. Is it worth it to do double ext 2 and either throw eng adv or chem. Also, if i don't do both ext 2 i have to stay in economics so its rly math ext 2 or economics.
Hi, I was in a similar boat last year! I was ranked 1st in Eng adv and ext 1 and 21st in Maths adv at the end of y11, picked up Eng ext 2 and Maths ext 2 in y12, dropped Maths ext 2 after a semester. I am naturally good at English so I found the extra unit really easy, but had to spent a lot of time to keep up in Maths ext 2 in comparison.

I ended up dropping Maths ext 2, but if I could go back in time, I would’ve dropped Eng ext 1 and 2 and kept Maths ext 2. This is mainly because my Eng ext 1 and 2 teachers were awful, so I ended up hating every lesson… Even tho I did really good in all the exams/assignments. If you have a good Eng ext teacher though, then you’ll probably have a good time unlike me and won’t regret it!

Even though everybody told me that Eng ext 1 and 2 scale worse than Maths ext 2 (and it definitely does), I ignored them because I assumed I would do well in eng anyway. But I do wish I listened to them, I enjoyed learning Maths ext 2 content more than Eng ext 1 and 2 content.
