Hi guys, just wondering if maths (advance) really that important for me if I want to take educational courses ( like primary educational, secondary education) in uni in the future.
Right now, I have 12 units, where I kinda kept maths just to "show" that I've been taking maths courses in highschool as a record. if that makes sense. However my mom is really worried that in the future in uni, i still have to do maths no matter what course I take and she's really stressed about my maths mark which they are really ass. But I told her that since I've already f'ed my past two maths assessment, i dont see the point of continuing maths tutoring. I know it sounds relaly selfish and lazy but tbh I did try really hard for maths untill year 10 I've went to more than 3 tutoring centres and priv tutors just for maths and all i get isstill 60 and even lower. so i just assume that i suck at maths.
So can please someone tell me that if maths really that important and would it affect my future carreer or uni course smt like that? thanks everyone

Depends on the degree, the math skills required/recommended can vary greatly.

For example I'd say the degrees where a high level of maths is needed are actuarial, science, engineering and some ones that do require some degree of mathematical skills are economics or comp sci but some like commerce may require even less.

Medicine doesn’t have a lot of maths - perhaps nothing beyond maths standard 2 level I reckon.

science degrees have a compulsory maths component even if your majors aren’t to do with maths, at least in usyd anyway
check the handbooks for the degrees you’re considering or concerned about it really just differs

in addition to what everyone else has alr mentioned, if you're not doing at least math adv then keeping math just to get into a course won't be beneficial anyways bc most courses that require math (nowadays its mainly just as assumed knowledge rather than a prereq) ask for at least a band 4 in math adv or e3 in ext 1/2
