Okay, so I'm in year 11 right now, and I'm doing pathways for my HSC course. Recently I got my subject sheet for next year, and I wanted to do physics, but physics wasn't there. So, I decided to do it by distance course, but my mom thinks it's too difficult to do it.

So, I looked into the syllabus, and it's pretty much similar to math. I mean I do 3 unit maths and I understand most of the 3 unit math. But, the problem is if I do distance course, do I have to do it on online or actually going to TAFE and actually taking a lecture?

Therefore, is physics a difficult subject to do it?

If you get a good textbook like Jacaranda and apply yourself you will have no trouble at all, especically because you are doing 3 unit anyway should be no trouble for you. Good Luck!

Just be aware that it's mostly history of science and the impact of shit on society, so it's really nothing like maths at all.

Edit: But as the above poster said, it's not too bad if you apply yourself and the course content interests you.

It's not "mostly" history and impacts of science but it's more around 40% worth of the core. There are concepts that you need as well but in general, physics isn't too hard.

Eh? In my experience, only the "Cosmic Engine" part of physics was 'mostly' history and impacts of science. The rest is generally heavy on the maths and the applications of some concepts. (I'm talking completely about Year 11 here, by the way)

There's not as much maths in HSC Physics as one would presume. It's a content based course - you learn about physics, and the maths is used as an aid to the theory you learn. Essentially, if you are expecting a maths oriented course then HSC Physics will be a disappointment.

it is not hard

the marks you get in it will have a strong correlation with the amount of effort you put in, as with all subjects. the maths is definitely not hard, if you're doing well in 3u then calculation questions in hsc physics should be free marks

Physics is my favourite subjetc :)
chemistry and biology are boring.
but physics is harder then chemistry, chemistry requires very little understanding, a lot of memorisation
biology requires no understanding, all u need is memorise the text book which is boring and time consuming.

if you think chem requires very little understanding, you're doing it wrong

My sister said that physics is boring, hard and was a subject that killed all her braincells.

Many of the concepts are difficult to get your head around and usually require a lot of study to learn them. I find syllabus summaries are essential. Like everyone else said, there is not much maths in the course. There is a big emphasis on the history of physics and 6 mark questions were you are required to write at least a page....

I can get a chemistry paper done in less than 2 hours, I don't find it challenging at all.
but when I do physics past papers, it takes me about 3 hours, depending on the paper.
But I find chemistry to be way less challenging than physics.

Yeah so can everyone else, but they will only get a 25% mark just like you would!

In that case, go show us your state rank.

I can't finish a Chemistry paper in two and a half hours, I pretty much time it so I use all the 3 hours to make your I include enough information for good marks. If you have a look, all the best students use all the time, if you're not then you're not writing enough and not including enough information. The recipe for a poor result.
