Yes, but only when they decide they want to be especially mean to the 4u's.

Harder 3u is supposed to be, but sometimes they combine the two (eg reduction formulae and inequalities), and that's when it gets really messy.

Things with an <b>e</b> ne<b>x</b>t to them are usually considered (by me) harder 2U in 3U..

Also for me, anything with the words <i>monthly</i> and <i>payment</i> join together are usually harder 4U in 3U (i suck at finance)

well that depends...sometimes i'd rather be stuck on a conics question rather than a harder 3U circle geometry question.
But in HSC they only give you fairly straight forward conics questions:uhhuh:

They are, I did them first before CSSA, as a 'warm up' of sorts.

heh.
i was wondering the same thing today.
e.g. could u get a more complicated harder superannuation/loan repayments question in ext 2?

I thought that too, but then again 2U can naver be hard... there just isn't enough theory for it to become hard.

though they can ask complex compound interest things in 3U. I think it has been done before.

Lol well this is what I imagine Harder Harder 2 Unit to be: Bill invests 10% of his income into his superannuation each year. However, on every prime year he only puts 8% in, spending 2% on a holiday.

On every year that is divisble by 3 and another prime (including 3) he only puts in 6.54%.

If the yearly interest is governed by the equation I=ef(x)+1 where f(x) is the inflation.

The inflation is given by f(x)=e[x/2]/x2, where x is the year. and [x/2] is the nint function of x/2. And f(x) is the percentage.

Assuming his wage rises in line with inflation and originally starts on $48 000. Determine how much supperannuation he has on the start of the 15th year. (not that hard but its messy and worthless and doesnt test anything at all) And compare how much money that would be equivalent to initially.

How is it impossible? No I wont do it because a) you would have to do it year by year
b) Converting back would be a huge pain

Edit: Oh yeah it is impossible at the moment. I forgot to say which event occurs at year 3. Fixed

Exactly, ie the 2 unit course.

Harder 2 Unit in 3 unit is a joke as well.

how mad would 3u be if there was an option topic with it, where you pick either engineering type questions or money type, and they will be the ONLY types that appear in the test, so no shitty loan repayments throughout the exam.

99% of the schools would go for the engineering type ones imo

"engineering-type" ones?
e.g. projectiles, SHM etc? i.e. physical apps?
actually, that would be cool come to think of it, but then again, y not just not include loan repayments if 99% aren't gonna choose it? i 'm guessing that's the reason y they don't make it an option.
:)
