Seriously, nearly every thread in this forum shows a link to a SMH story then starts the forum from there. I know it's a good source and all that, but come on it seems that we can't explain the sitaution for ourselves.
Well everyone knows SMH. We can see a news story is legit, and to some extent the report is trustworthy. If people start posting obscure articles from random newspapers, credibility may inhibit proper ignition of discussions. And SMH is fairly up there intellectually in comparison with most mainstream Australian newspapers (give the Daily Telegraph to your kids when you're teaching them to read)

It's easier to discuss an issue through an article because you then don't get up to 50 different members asking for each and every source that was used in order to create the argument/post... Then there's the 'lazy bastard' factor, too.

Also, if bored, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Randompage

They can be fun when you are sitting next to someone on the train.

There's nothing like a fresh, smooth new SMH paper

But then after it's been read it loses its newspaper virginity and becomes all obese and creased

That's why I buy the Daily Telegraph. Sure it's biased, and are for less-intelligent readers, but heck it's hell of a lot easier to hold.
