Lol. Okay then, whatever. I am in no way religious, and never will be, sorry. Please, don't give me a religious anecdote or anything of the sort after this post.

I'm going to the "What you hate when driving" thread to read some funny stories.

know what I don't get...

ok, masturbation is a "sin", yes? BUT if males DON'T do it, it causes them physical issues.

what now?!
If you don't do it it happens in your sleep anyway. Obvious choice is obvious.

The main problem I see with it is lust and often the objectification of women. If you are associating it with porn or even sexual pictures in your head then it is clearly not holy or pure.

I think you largely answer your own question by saying that you struggle with it. If you struggle, that means part of you feels convicted when you do it, and try to stop. Don't ignore that conviction, it is usually the holy spirit prompting you. If you are seeking God then you will usually know when you do something wrong.

To me, it sounds like you know that you shouldn't be doing it, regardless of whether or not it is in the bible (which it isn't specifically mentioned. Sexual immorality, lust and maintaining purity is mentioned a LOT however). If it plays on your conscience don't look for a justification of it.

I think if you are spiritually mature then you will know how to recognise when you are doing/have done something you shouldn't. And it sounds to me like you know you personally shouldn't be doing it, so I suggest not to.

One last parting thought. What you feed grows, and what you starve grows. By perving at chicks, looking at porn, thinking about women etc. you are feeding the problem, and it will grow and be harder to break. It is important to recognise that even by looking at women you can be feeding the addiction, which is why if you continue to do those things you will eventually end back up where you started.

Try "starving" everything to do with the area, and with God's help and some accountability the habit will die. Job had to make a covenant with his eyes not to look at women (Job 31). Perhaps you should consider doing this too?

good insight.

i rkn its a useless insight...
to suggest that masturbation is done merely through lust and the objectification of women is absurd. first, it is not restricted to males only... women do it as well in which theyd picture getting rammed with a throbbing member as well... and so the feminist viewpoint is clearly a lacklustre one..

she insinuates further that masturbation is an unnatural thing. Her reference for this of course is the bible. for a scientifically minded argument, the Bible is not and never will be an article of fact, and thus cannot be refered to in support of you perspective. Masturbation is the act of self stimulation to acheive pleasure. This pleasure is the reward process the human brain uses to encourage intercourse though which our genes get past on...

Further she claims that a prerequiste to any conscience is spiritual maturity. I disagree as i said in another thread. You do not need to be religious or have any faith in a god, in order to live a good life in which you can help others and be good to them. Of course you will disagree because your doctrine tells you to honour god, that is the purpose of your life.

fianlly she also claims that 'what you feed, grows'. Naturally, sure. In this instance, christians love to site what happened with Ted Bundy in the US, who through an addiction to porn and women, became one of the most horrendous serial killers in america's history. Watching porn does not make you addicted to it. I would suggest perhaps it desensitises you to the finer details of love, however Ted Bundy's example is in no ways, by a very long shot, universal.
If looking at women is so bad, then try to explain 'songs of solomon' - a book in the bible devoted to love songs.

So basically, the bible cannot be used to condemn masturbation on any level.
It is only natural,
feels good too,
so keep flogging away ppl

Anyone know how long you have to go without fapping to have one?
I've only ever had one, and that was after holding off for four days.

The problem is that I don't know if it is really possible to be free from it and never ever do it again especially since you are tempted almost every day. This is not like smoking or drinking. When you wanna quit smoking you don't walk around with a box of cigarettes around your belt all day long. This cannot be compared to other addictions. You may make it for a few weeks and all you need is 1 bad day where you're frustrated and then you do it again and then your will is broken and then the whole thing starts all over. I have experienced this so many times. In the end it all comes down to your own will and if it's not strong enough then you fail. But it doesn't work. It's the same with somebody on a weight loss diet. He may say to himself that he will not eat sweets again on one day and he may be absolutely serious and then next day comes and the whole determination is just gone and you cannot simply reproduce it on demand. If the determination is gone then nothing holds you back. Then you crave the sweets and eat them and later on feel condemned and ask yourself how this could happen. Then you decide that this won't happen again and you're totally serious but after a while this feeling also fades and then the same thing may happen again. This is at least how it is for me. I have to constantly refocus and try to bring this determination back. The problem is when you sin you feel bad and you're angry and think to yourself that it has to end now. But the problem is that even if you make it not to sin you don't really enjoy it. You don't rejoice over not sinning because you can't access this feeling you had when you sinned and then be glad about not feeling miserable anymore. At least it's this way for me.
If I could save this miserable feeling and access it any time I want to THEN I could access it every day and think back to how bad I felt and then I could rejoice but now you just sit there and can't even really remember how bad you felt and when you cannot remember it then your determination also suffers. It's like somebody going out of slavery and then he forgets how slavery sucked and is tempted to go back.

christianity really is a day to day experience. what you've overcome today could comeback tomorrow to be conquered again. It's sin in general not only masturbation or any form of lust. That's why we need Jesus everyday, His provisions, grace and strength. We can never do it on our own strength, even with all these books, sermons, tips, formulas to get rid of sin. Only one thing is sure. Only Jesus can make us overcomers and conquerors. We really need to surrender and re-surrender everyday to God's will. One day doesn't make it. It should be everyday (everyminute)

I get what your (convolutedly) saying about willpower and that maintaining discipline is a hard thing.
But my question is... why does everyone have to stop masturbating?
and you cannot answer with sin... because having a beat, instrinsically is a good thing, all things considered...

quick statement... no slave would ever forget the pain of it.... would never want to go back... dunno wtf your on there

EDIT: i understand that the beauty of your god is that he is merciful and forgives if you place your trust in him...
but yeh im agnostic
