Has anyone got information/notes on the conventions of jacobean revenge tragedy and how The Revenger's Tragedy fits in relation with the genre.

pffft no its sooo hard to find stuff on that freaking play! everything i own to do with jacobean tragedy has to do with medea as well. i CANNOT find a study guide for revenger's tragedy anywhere! do you know where i can get an online plot overview?

So yeh

is Jacobean Tragedy the same as Elizabethan? like same time period?

anyone out there got conventions?

omg im having the same problem. i cant find anything on the conventions and im so lost with the whole revnegers tragedy play. let me know if you find anything

Jacobean period was when James I was in power.
Elizabethan period was when Elizabeth was in power.

Now the Revenger's Tragedy can be argued as black comedy. It's farcical and ridiculous and I'm starting to see the humour within the play. You can argue that it isn't a revege tragedy but a comedy.

So when you look at it through this viewpoint, maybe it'll help you understand the play.

Also the book "Succes in HSC Extension Revenge Tragedy by Pattinsons" have a good plot summary. I'm sure you could borrow it in a library, the book will help you understand the play a bit better.

one onther q if your talking about the context of the play do you talk about the context it was written in or the context in which it was set?
