well telemarketing($13+comm) or specialised direct sales($15+comm) or data entry jobs($16+)?
i dont apply for retail shops, food stores and big stores like bigW and woolworths anymore.
I agree with those jobs you need to be able to sell yourself not your academic credentials :)

As long as you got the job it went well :)
What kind of questions did they ask? (for future reference for others)

So you were playing the man of mystery card hehe

Memorise and bring your cover letter, so when they ask why you would make an ideal employee you can tell them to read the paper. If they insist on you explaining, regurgitate your cover letter points.

i say do it the other way. don't tell them to read the cover letter because it seems like you're being lazy or don't know what to say, just tell them the points on your cover letter.

Ah yes.
I wasn't thinking straight when I made that post.
Cover letters aren't used in interviews.

Bringing a couple of written references to the interview should be good.

It's your bank account details, so your employeer can send your income somewhere, if you get the job. Bring your Tax File Number as well.

You won't actually be getting cash, hardly anyone gets paid in cash anymore, it's for direct depositing your income every X weeks. If you have the job be prepared to fill out a few forms with your details several times :)

the thing the bank sends you in the mail every few months with the amount in your bank account written on it as well as the deposits and withdrawrals etc. they probably will get you to use it to fill out the account details. have alook at it before hand and find th ebranch name and address, the branch number, the BSB number (is that the branch number?), your account number, account name (not the name of the account itself, the name the account is held in, normally your first and last name, maybe your middle name as well.

It doesn't matter what BSB is for.
As long as you have the BSB and A/C numbers and the bank's street name and surburb it's enough.

Account name is your FULL name (i.e including middle) for ease of processing.

Go to your bank and ask them to print off the most recent bank statement. Employers shouldn't be looking for how much you already have in the bank, all they want is bank details, which is enclosed in that little card you get when you first opened your account (assuming you're with Commonwealth).

also you don't need the actual statement, you just need the numbers, so if you don't want them to see your account balance just write down the account details on a piece of paper and away you go.

Actually I think it'll be productive to show them that you only have $10 in your account, because they'll be given the impression that you're poor and will work hard for your pay.

If you had, say, $400 000 in your bank, and you applied for a job that pays $10ish, your employer would question how hard you would work for such an insignifcant salary compared to what you already have in the bank.

Show em you've got $10. You'll get the job.
