Hi all...

My problem is that i have recently received a job offer, where the position starts in two weeks. But i don't want that job 100%, although am quite happy to have that job. Just today, i've also received an invite into the ATO assessment centre. Should i attend the assessment centre anyway? Even though theres a slim chance of getting accepted by ATO and no doubt the interview process will be stretched out longer than 2weeks.

One more thing... does anyone have experience within the ATO, or of their interview/recruiting process?

I can't imagine that the job you have in the bag is that much worse than the ATO (of all places!)

They don't even get biscuits etc at their office.

Wouldn't expect competitive career advancement either.

On the brighter side they're extremely laid back, e.g. don't work overtime, not as busy as profit organisations, etc.

At least from my insight.

So depends what you're looking for I guess...

You could always cancel your offer document after you sign to accept it. That's what I did with Commbank

yeh i could do that.. but the problem is that the actual job starts in a week or so, and the ato interview process will more than likely take longer than that to finalise. So i can't exactly start working and then quit a month later.

just out of curiosity, what is the offer you currently have? and what qualifications (ie degree/equivalent) do you have?

best of luck!

i won't disclose the company name, incase in the off chance the word gets around that i'm interested in another job, but it is in the insolvency field.

Bachelor of commerce (accounting)

The latest i could possibly start would be at most another week or two, which won't buy me much time.
