Here is the new JUAIseek

main additions
- an experiamental reverse thingy
- 2003 data
- updated 2002 data
- easier to add subjects
- change the look and feel
- massive speed inprovement
____- but some parts a still somewhat slow (dunno why)

I have included 2 versions for ppl who don't have microsoft windows

Download the (windows) version if you are not sure if you have java 1.4.2 installed (it checks for you)
or if the other version doesn't work

Download the (all OS) version if you own a mac (must be OSX) or a unix machine or if you have java 1.4.2 installed on a windows machine.

sorry about the lack of documentation.....
Just play around with it and you should get the hang of it.

PS. i'm not hosting on another site cause i don't have a website to host on.

EDIT: don't worry about the imperfection regarding an aggregate of 480+

Seens alot better then the previous versions, just some constructive (hopefully) comments:

Its good how the reverse setting won't give you a half-mark for a 1 unit subject (as far as a I can gather by doing quick tests) however you can still set them manually.

Different style backgrounds are good.

Ill play around with it some more and get back to you and one thing why does a 500 aggregate give a UAI of 99.9? (I know it wont really happen but nice to know)

When you said it doesnt test for people who JUST put in ext 1 and ext 2 english, does that mean it will always include English Advanced in the UAI?

Ill play around with it some more and get back to you

i ment that it doens't check for ppl who in put invlad subjects such as

2u english avd
2u english std
1u english ext1
1u english ext2
etc...

but no sane person would do that, so it should be ok

shit... i forgot to test the 500 aggregate.... oh well just wait for next version for the updated data

i mean, i don't think many ppl will be disappointed with 99.9....

i use a 4th power polynomial to convert aggregate to UAI so stuff like that happen if i'm not careful

edit: shit shit shit. the 99.9+ marks are really screwed up... i'll try and fix now

acctually don't worry about this for time being

i only garruntee around +/- 0.5 (for marks 80+) any way.

if you get 480+ aggregate you have prolly gotten 99.95 if not 100.

i'll try my best to fix it for next release

appart for that minor inperfection, all other UAIs will cauculate normally

Yeah I know that, since I dont think there will be anyone estimating that they get 500, the only reason I said it, is because it is at 100 from about 480 then goes down.

the aggregate and uai textboxes are too small in the windows "look & feel".

I like the 'hold' option when using the reverse feature. I'd always planned to implement something like that and never got around to it.

I think the 'year' drop-down box on the Marks/UAI tab should update the scaled mark for each course too, and not just the UAI. Bit misleading otherwise.

the 'year' of the scaled mark is entered when you enter the subject

the UAI 'year' is for the aggregate to uai calculation

I know that - it's misleading. :)

Kind of pointless to see what your aggregate would have got you in other years, because in those years, your aggregate would have been different.

yeah, i know, but it helps you get an idea of what your UAI will be in future years.

grrr, i don't think i can do a 2004 prediciton due to the way i structured the data...

if only i had thought of using a database at the start, rather than a simple table.....
