(6.98x10^6)^3/T^2 = (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)/4pi^2


from this stage, what steps mathematically do you do to get to the answer.....

Flip the equation over so you have

[T^2 * 4pi^2] / [(6.98x10^6)^3 ] = 1 / [ (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24) ]

Multiply both sides by [(6.98x10^6)^3 ] and divide both sides by 4pi^2

[T^2 ] = [(6.98x10^6)^3 ] / [ (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)( 4pi^2) ]

Take square root of both sides.

T = square root of [(6.98x10^6)^3 ] / [ (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)( 4pi^2) ]


I apologise for the formatting, im not as skilled in it, but I hope you follow what I'm saying.

im still confused as the steps you have to follow, i have no idea why T^2 and 4pi^2 have come together on one side leaving the other side just over 1.....

I can't remember the keplers law of periods formula, I just solved for T with the numbers you gave me.

It would help to write the question correctly in the first place....

(6.98x10^6)^3 / T^2 = (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24) / 4pi^2

you are solving for T right?

So flip it over to make things easier, the equation still stays true this way.

T^2 / (6.98x10^6)^3 = 4pi^2 / (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)

Mulitply both sides by (6.98x10^6)^3, to leave T^2 by itself

T^2 = [4pi^2 * (6.98x10^6)^3 ] / (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)

T = square root of [4pi^2 * (6.98x10^6)^3 ] / (6.67x10^-11)(5.97x10^24)
