Why is that ketones have a higher boiling point that that of similar chain-length carbons. Shouldn't the carbonyl group be more accessible in the aldehyde as compared to the ketone?

Ketones are slightly more polar than aldehydes. Essentially, alkyl chains are mildly electron-donating, so it puts a more negative charge on the oxygen atom.
