Hi

I have an assessment task due next week on King lear, it's a debate task and I'm in a team of three. I will be the last person to speak for my team, and to be honest I really don't know too much about the process of debating.

I know that I can't introduce new points, that's it

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Other facts:

a) I'm on the negative side.
b) We are debating the relevance of King lear in modern society.

Since you are the third speaker, you are supposed to be reinforcing the points already introduced by your 1st and 2nd speakers.

You should make a summary of everyone's points and support the argument with strong statements and lines of reasoning.

DON'T introduce new points for argument's sake.
DON'T introduce new examples - the affirmative team will beat you down for it.

Good luck!

Are you trying to say that King Lear has minimal relevance in modern society? or vice versa?

Oooh...that might be a little tough...
You'd probably have to support the feminist and marxist readings (if you are doing them)
