hey
i have some fairly ok notes on king lear.. but im looking for a specific kinda quote...
pretty much im saying that shakespeare uses language to show his descent into madness, i have an after quote but i need a before one? like him using realy good language? in a general sorta way? i cant find any... itd be much apprecaited, and ill totally swap ya stuff!

You'll just have to read the first act of scene 1, just grab a quote before he dismisses Cordelia.

However what I would do would compare it to his speeches at Cordelia's death, where he regains sanity and insight into the populace.

what about the "oh let me not be mad" before the storm on the moor scene? there are also a couple of good ones at the start around the banishment of Cordelia and Kent. have you watched the Richard Eyre version of Lear? its first scene really shows the arrogance and the power and how Lear's losing it.
