Does anyone know any lines that are the same but have diff meanings in Eyre and Brooks version?
This would be greatly appreciated as we never got to watch the damn texts in class yet have to do an essay

Ok well i will make a contribution to my own thread then :)

In Eyre's it's a sexist remark, in others it just adds to the myriad of praises for cordelia

What they say is exactly the same.

It is HOW they say it, i.e. in what environment do they say it in etc.

now, If I still remember anything from yr 12 english...

e.g.

Brooks: when Regan is shoos lear away, she does it after we are shown images of lear's men trashing her place, this is of course a justified behaviour. (they have a valid reason to treat her father like that)

Eyres: she just asks him to go away for no strong reason. (woman are just evil when given power.)

Its all about how the director intrepret the play. (and then decides to show it to us on film)
