One of my friends was bitchin' to me about KC the other day, and I watched 'the Wrestler' (good movie) and there was a scene in which 2 characters were talking about music and one of them says 'then that Cobain fucker came along'

Is it a coincidence that music seemed to go from the awesome rock/metal of the 60's, 70's and 80's to the fucking piece of shit it (mostly) is now right after Cobain came on the scene?

Riddle me THAT, bored of studies.

*I do not agree or disagree with the title, I just want opinions.

It's not so much about caring as it is about wanting to hear other people's opinions. Which... isn't pretentious, last time I checked.

also, lol@twat. good insult.

Early 90s was awesome. Grunge is amazing. Just, no.

I do not think 80s rock is awesome at all, yuck.

See, this is called personal taste?

course 90's is good, Foo fighter, pearl jam, rhcp, silverchair. the list goes on.

But... I don't want to argue about personal taste, what I'm asking is why do people have the opinion that "Kurt Cobain ruined music"

lady G is fucking amazing. Her whole concept is just great, otherwise everyone wouldn't be trying to copy her (except they all look forced and shitty)

perhaps 'brought about a drastic change' is a better word. And yes there is some amazing music out there, but why is stuff like ke$ha, lil wayne, i don't even know but you know the stuff i'm talking about so popular?

what I don't understand is how music can go from floyd, maiden, old metallica, bon jovi, boston, deep purple, eric clapton, led zeppelin, the doors, KISS, springsteen, even good early 90's rock etcccccc to ke$ha, justin bieber, the australian justin bieber, nelly furtado, etc in such a short time?

he was in the band Nirvana (which is american), married to courtney love, killed himself (there is controversy around this) and someone just broke into courtney love's house and stole his hair and ashes or something.

WHAT HAPPENED IS

80's rock was very self-indulgent, flamboyant. Hair metal. Motley Crue. Huge, sweeping guitar solos, massive stadium gigs, glitter and hairspray.

Grunge started as an answer to that, relatively simple guitar, docs and no shampoo for weeks.

But while the 80's rock was going on, don't forget that there was 80's pop as well. Like Wham! So it's not like pop music suddenly got bad.

what are you cunts on about??

there has always been great music and shit music

its all subjective anyway, i fucking hate radiohead but apparently they are amazing
i love katy perry even though she is shithouse because she is fun and a bit of a slut

i dont htink the dynamics of music has changed at all really, sure there is a lot of shithouse commercialised shit but there is a FUCKING LOT of great music and indie shit etc

stop being musical elitists

Yeah Sweet Child of Mine was really shit...?

Axl Rose was the epitome of the 80's ego, he was the most unprofessional artist around, but his music was awesome.

I personally don't think he ruined music, he and his band were one of the defining grunge bands of the 90's and are still quite popular even after his death. Take a look at all the shit that gets aimed at younger people these days, i know what ruined Music?
