Say goodbye to endless hours in the bathroom with messy hair-dye, ladies, because L’Oréal has developed a drug that stops those sneaky silver hairs from shining through.
L’Oréal is set to release the pill by 2014, but have said the medication will only work if your hair has not started to lose it’s natural colour.
The beauty and cosmetics giant have been working for a decade to develop a fruit-based tablet that will stop the aging process that causes greying.
According to Shine.yahoo.com, “L’Oréal scientists found that hair pigment cells die as levels of a enzyme known as TRP-2 drop with age.
“However, they discovered that some of these cells, which are called melanocytes, survive even when someone’s hair has turned grey.
“After finding a compound that naturally occurs in an unnamed fruit, scientists worked on the secret project to develop it into a pill form.”
However, the pill is by no means an instant beauty fixer, as it must be taken on a daily basis, before the person starts greying, to ensure results.
Bruno Bernard, head of hair biology at L’Oréal, said: “We intend people to take it in the same way as a dietary supplement. It won’t be expensive. Ideally, you would take it for your whole life but realistically, we would encourage people to start using it before their hair goes grey because we don’t think it can reverse the process once it has started”, he continued.
Currently, the fruit-based supplement is undergoing safety trials, but the scientists at L’Oréal have admitted that it will take many years to prove how well it works, as the hair-greying process is very slow.

Interesting, however someone commented that grey hairs come due to the lack of copper in our diet, maybe eating more copper is the answer?
