Benq S41

Any one of the above would be awsesome
I bought the S41.
I think it'll be a bit out of his budget unless he is just purchasing the machine only.

I searched around and the S41V15: [basic stats - more at http://www.benq.com.au/products/joybook/?product=1073&page=specifications middle column]
Santa Rosa T7300 2.0ghz
Vista home premium
nVIDIA 8600M [I think it's the only lappy so far to have this]
1Gig RAM [I did a 2gig upgrade for $60]
160GIG HD
14.1" screen
2.35kgs

The cheapest retail price you'll be able to get is around the $1750 mark. But then [unless you have it] you'll need to buy all that office, anti-virus, etc bullcrap which will possibly end up costing you another few hundred.

It's a major bang for your buck. Seriously. But all in all it'll end up costing around $2000. Which is a tad out of your budget. Unless you got connections you can get it all within your budget.
