Vaio's are an expensive waste of money. The only 'premium' PC laptops worth purchasing are the thinkpads...
The Sony Business Laptops are amazing

YouTube - Sony VAIO serie BZ Crash Test

And in the demonstration a friend of mine who sells them gave me he picked it up and dropped it on the floor... was bending the screen...

They're basically indestructible

Have you considered a MacBook? It'd last you much longer, and frankly, I find them to be better value for money.

I just upgraded :)

All that's left to do is upgrade my Graphics card from a GTX275 to a directX11 card when there are more on the market that aren't overpriced and designed so they're bottlenecked by every processor available :)

It feels good upgrading... and being able to do it easily :) None of this laptop rubbish :D

I just got my brand new Dell Studio 15 delivered today and I am really impressed and pleased with it. The sound and picture are particularly good and it has been fast and good so far (except when i put in a dvd and it went weird but that was the dvd itself, not the laptop).

it was $1100-$1200, iirc.

I probably just end up getting a Macbook Pro. They have an extreme price tag attached but I really want the OSX software.

Either that, or I could use a version of Windows and Linux, simultaneously :)
