Despite being about something taboo, i cannot emphasise enough how brilliant this film is. It is masterfully crafted by P.T. Anderson conveying the vibrancy and idealism of the 70s as well as the excesses and turbulence of the 80s. On top of that there are fantastic performances from Mark Whalberg, Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore and John C. Reilly, perfectly complementing Anderson's craft and a great disco and soul inspired soundtrack.
