I got into IT at maq..i was hoping to get into e-biz..but i jus missed out..

I'm so confused..

Whether I should do IT at maq and try to transfer into commerce at maq

do Business/Commerce at UWS (PEnrith!!)

I've got into both courses..

jus not sure if I should accept the IT offer at maq?

How hard is it to transfer within maq?

and its full easy to get transfer internally at maq! :d

easier den at sydney unsw n all demz n e way!!

i got a second offer for ebusiness in the late rounds...... i got into arts-psyche at maq but i think i mite do ebusiness as it allows me to do commerce type subjects in der n e way

Transfering is easy at macquarie. If ur doin an IT degree, just make sure you include the compulsory units for E-Biz in ur program, keep ur GPA above 2.0 and u'll be fine. If you do those compulsory 100 level subjects it means you can swap over without spendin any more time on the degree than u need to.

I'm not sure where u live, but I'm assumin it's kinda far away from penrith, and if macquarie's closer it's definently worth saving the transport costs.

Penrith is far for me...i live near parra..sooo its like an hour+

muli..how hard is it to get a GPA of 2.0?!

Is IT difficult in the first semester? Honestly, do lots of ppl transfer within maq?


I could have gotten into e-biz in main rounds but i screwed up my prefs!

I'm jus worried that if I do IT and i mite not b able to transfer...then im stuck in the course and i need to happy with it!

IT is not tooo bad, right?

2.0 is only straight Passes. Not hard to get. Yes it's easy to transfer, just do the easiest subjects you can to be safe.

What are the easiest subjects? Considering I only did 2u maths, I'd prefer the less mathematic subjects..

Weeeell if you are determined to transfer, and think you can do well enough, you may as well just do the compulsory 100 level courses for E-Bus and leave out the IT ones. It's not like it's compulsory to do certain units just because you're doing a particular degree, it just means you have to pass them if you want the receive the degree you're enrolled in.

You'll have to make sure you follow the prerequisites though, some of your 100 level courses require you to be enrolled in E-Business, so you'll have to wait before you start doing those. But whatever units you can take this semester will count as credit to the E-Business degree.

actually both BIT and BeBUS share the same compulsory subjects, that being COMP115, COMP114, COMP125 and MATH135.

as for trasnferring into BeBUS, you need a GPA of 2.5, NOT 2.0.

btw person who started this thread. did you accept your offer for Macquarie yet?
just accept it okay and go enrol
and next week you can decide whether to un-enrol in IT or Business
so u know have a week to think about it.
and bonus is you'll get an extra Student ID card

me just got late offer to ebus... can you tell me the stuff we learn in the first year? cuz ive got an offer to uts but for a different course... kinda tossing up which to do

you have to pick a strand which you want to study. most of them have many first year core units in common!

that sucks... i really have no idea which one to choose... most likely management or tech...
i dont get this 100 and 200 and 300 thing... what do they mean?

Generally it means what year you do the unit in (ie: 100 = 1st year unit, 200 = 2nd year unit etc..)

yeah but you can also do 100 level units in your second or third year. as someone mentioned in another thread, they are the degree of difficulty of the subjects. basically the 200 level build on the 100 level knowledge and so on...

but well passionfruit im in same situation as you. but ive accepted the macq offer. nd enrolled for the uws course yesterday. but i think ill be sticking with the IT@macq. i got a free uws id card though?

I went to maq n accepted the offer!! Soooo here it is..im actually goin to maq now!! Man, I never thought that i'd b doin IT in uni..lol

nd enrolled at the uws course yesterday also
got til before the hecs census date to withdraw i think?
dunno how to do that but i think theres a withdrawl form type thing?

The next train on platform 2 goes to all stations to 'Macquarie Uni', yes we get our own station! Beat that UTS! Due in 2006 or something.
